Modding is a process
... the location hunting without GPS gimmicks.
Published on April 1, 2009 By Zyxpsilon In Everything Else

1- You need Google Earth to participate.

2- The location must belong to your own past, work, vacation... absolutely no OBVIOUS personal details.

2a- Or as stated from May additional rules ; Where do you wish to go in the future, for vacations, Historical places, Museums, Wonders... for a quick visit. Anything for any reasons. Hints & Locations unlimited.

3- To earn the right of submitting the next clue for yourself, you MUST identify the buildings_city_address (etc) of the currently unknown place to the person who linked the image. Once confirmed, you win the right for #4 below.

4- You must provide "easy or not" hints for your own. I'd highly recommend Time Zones, minimum.

5- Altitude must not exceed 1km or below 250m. (Mine is at 303 meters)

6- Don't forget to hide the coordinates from us, bottom left!

Here's the first;

I worked on the 15th floor of that skyscraper as a financial advisor from May 75 to October 77. The red arrow points to my office window.

-5GMT.

Where is it? Street & number.

- The building marked by the first arrow;

Ulmur münster Cathedral - in Ulm, Germany.

- The record for which it is famous;

Tallest Church Tower in the world.

- The street of the school marked by the second arrow;

Karl Schefold Straβe

???

Correct, the Ulmer Münster is the tallest church in the world, with the main tower rising to 161,53 meters!

The state borders, in this case marked by the Danube, are between Baden-Württemberg (Ulm) and Bavaria (Neu Ulm).

Funny note about the school: It's the "Kepler Gymnasium" (highschool), bordering on the Keplerstrasse and the Karl-Schefold-Strasse. However, the address is quite unexpectedly in the Karl-Schefold.

PS: You can tilt the view in GoogleEarth using the middle mousebutton.

Damn...You should see the screenshot i have..it looks almost identical to the west side of manhattan between NY and NJ. I'll host the image when i get the chance. Funny Coincidence...and that yellow car, i could have sworn was a cab. Everything was very coincidental. =\

Well, I thought I narrowed down the region a bit with the 'went to school' hint. My profile says Germany, after all.

But I'm glad to see that it wasn't too obvious.

Two places i went at first; Berlin & Strasbourg. Eventually i realized there's not that many "cathedrals" which hold a world record. I glimpsed at Chartres for awhile and typed "Tallest Churches" in google and BANG - Ulm came up, it was then a matter of finding the curvy river and put 3D buildings to confirm the orientation!

So, here's a much easier one (I guess!) - never been there myself, but i thought such a challenge would be fun to have. The planet is ours, might as well "see" it in all its tiny glory!

This shipping boat is parked and going "up" on that image.

1-- What is its "presumably right" destination?

2-- It will go through a Lake, near a big Island and underneath two bridges; name all four.

3-- It most probably went right by a city and will eventually reach another one; name both.

Wow... that promises to be quite a lot of "typo" verifications & careful precision with naming all eight of these buildings once the city is found, if ever!
