Modding is a process
... the location hunting without GPS gimmicks.
Published on April 1, 2009 By Zyxpsilon In Everything Else

1- You need Google Earth to participate.

2- The location must belong to your own past, work, vacation... absolutely no OBVIOUS personal details.

2a- Or as stated from May additional rules ; Where do you wish to go in the future, for vacations, Historical places, Museums, Wonders... for a quick visit. Anything for any reasons. Hints & Locations unlimited.

3- To earn the right of submitting the next clue for yourself, you MUST identify the buildings_city_address (etc) of the currently unknown place to the person who linked the image. Once confirmed, you win the right for #4 below.

4- You must provide "easy or not" hints for your own. I'd highly recommend Time Zones, minimum.

5- Altitude must not exceed 1km or below 250m. (Mine is at 303 meters)

6- Don't forget to hide the coordinates from us, bottom left!

Here's the first;

I worked on the 15th floor of that skyscraper as a financial advisor from May 75 to October 77. The red arrow points to my office window.

-5GMT.

Where is it? Street & number.

Go on, Mistralok -- you've got his & my approvals for the next Wish you were here...hunt!

Thank you gentlemen. I'll make my first one easy (but not too easy) I made a pilgrimage here a number of years ago. I won't give any hints now, but will later if you need them.

Europe, North America, or other?

FOUND IT: Former Texas Schoolbook Depository, 411 Elm street, Dallas, TX,

Confirmed, but i'll leave the usual duties to Mistralok to give the oK chain tasks, in the meantime you should start digging some rare & weird place from your past, devise "easy or not" Hints, maximum 1km up -- and again as a reminder, absolutely no OBVIOUS personal stuff!

Dallas, i would have searched for weeks in that huge city; maybe i'll get another chance for a second Hunt that i already figured -- but the challenge seem to be increasing in difficulty.

Trick will be to go somehow out of the US on vacations or somethin', probably.

Congrats.

EXCELLENT job, Scoutdog. You found this without my giving a single obvious hint. I thought that I hid my hints fairly well, but you smoked them out. There were three:

"I'll make this one easy" It should be a place of common knowledge to most of the forum members.

"I made a pilgrimage here..." This place has a significant social meaning.

The third clue is a visual one- a unique landmark. In this case it is the Reunion Tower.

In any case, I doff my cap to you and give you my full blessing to continuez le chaine.

I knew that since the building did not look like a religious structure, since you are located on the US, and people rarkly leave the country on non-religious pigrimages, that it had to be somewhere in the states. Then, I used a web gallery of American skylines to locate the building (it's called the Reunion Tower?) and looked for the area with the higest density of little photo icons. Picture will be up shortly, as soon as I decide my hint system.

Ok here it goes:

You are looking at the "studio" hosting the world's only non-crap ammonium-nitrate-intensive reality show. Hints availabe upon request...

The next pic.

Mythbusters is one of my faves. Much of their taping is now done at the M7 annex, which is ~3 miles away.

Good clue. I would have never found this without it.

Waiting... as usual, for confirmation!

on Apr 10, 2009

Confirmed! My favorite episode is probably "exploding pants". I have seasons 1, 2, and 3 as boxed sets.

Love that show, all I could figure out that it was in California
